He has a marathon best of 2:17:16 and has run sub 30-minutes for 10k, but he too comes from an ultra-running background, proving he is a man of many talents. He has plenty of marathon experience, including an international England vest appearance in Frankfurt. Looking to improve on his current best time, we spoke to Paul about how he feels going into the trials and what it is he is aiming for.
Tom Evans is one of the most versatile athletes of the moment. He holds a phenomenal 13:41 5k PB and a 63:14 half marathon best, but he also came 3rd at the World Trail Running Championships in 2018 over the 85km distance. This well and truly shows that he possesses speed as well as endurance, two things that could put him in good stead for a cracking marathon time. Hayley took the running world by storm as she went from being a 3:22 marathoner in 2017 to a 2:36 elite athlete in 2018. She has since bettered this time by running 2:32:42 at the Valencia Marathon last December. It was also her story of life as a full-time cancer research radiographer balanced alongside an intense training regime that came to the fore when she launched her body across the London Marathon finish line that brought her to the attention of the public. This truly showed the grit and dedication of a lot of our country’s best athletes. We spoke to Hayley about how she is feeling going into the trials.
At only 20 years old, Becky will be the youngest female athlete going into the olympic marathon trials next year. She has represented GB as a junior at the World Cross Country Championships and recently as a senior at the World Half Marathon Championships.
With the Olympics postponed until next year, Kew Gardens has been announced as the host venue for the Olympic Marathon Trials on 26th March 2021. All athletes that will be competing at the event have been invited.
